Example Projects

  • As a group, girls research their community, define an issue, and plan their CS Impact Project.

  • Clubs also set goals for their project and each girl's success.

  • Girls work individually to learn computer science concepts they'll need to build their CS Impact Project.

  • They learn these concepts through lessons that vary in difficulty, programming language, and interest such as music, art, game design, and storytelling.

  • Clubs test their project by sharing it with their community and identify whether or not they met their goals.

Each club meeting will have a similar set up: we host a "Women in Tech Spotlight," which has the girls research a female computer scientist. Then we have a "Girls Who Code Standup," where the girls build community by sharing what they’re working on and why it matters to them. Finally, the girls partake in "Code & Impact," which allows the girls to play around with different coding languages.

The ultimate goal of each meeting is to work towards designing and building their CS Impact project.
